Valery Khalilov Commemoration Gathering Concert

The Tchaikovsky Concert Hall of the Moscow Philharmonic Society will host the Valery Khalilov Commemoration Gathering on March 14, 2017, at 7 pm.

Valery Khalilov is a People’s Artist of Russia, outstanding conductor, composer, Honored Artist of Russia, Chief Military Conductor, Lieutenant General, Ensemble Leader and Artistic Director of the Alexandrov Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the Russian Armed Forces. Since 2007, Khalilov had been the music director of the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival. He died tragically on December 25, 2016 in a plane crash together with the musicians of the legendary collective headed by him. On January 30, 2017 Valery Khalilov would have turned 65. He planned to organize his anniversary concert on March 14…

The concert will be attended by fellows, friends, colleagues and students of Valery Khalilov, who will come from different cities of Russia to take part in this evening and stand for the conductor’s console, continuing the great and wonderful work of their teacher and mentor. The entire concert will be dedicated to the music composed by v. Khalilov in different years.

The concert will be attended by:
— Central Military Orchestra of the Defence Ministry of the Russian Federation (the orchestra is headed by the Honored Artist of Russia Colonel Sergei Durygin)
— Orchestra of the Institute of Military Conductors of the Military University of the Defence Ministry of the Russian Federation (the Institute is headed by the Honored Artist of Russia Colonel Mikhail Trunov)
— Orchestra of the Moscow Suvorov Military Music School named after Lieutenant General v. Khalilov of the Defence Ministry of the Russian Federation (the School is headed by the Honored Artist of Russia Alexander Gerasimov)
— Academic Choir of the Lomonosov Moscow State University (art director and chief conductor of the choir is the Merited Worker of Culture of Russia Mirza Askerov)

All proceeds from ticket sales will be transferred to the Moscow Suvorov Military Music School named after Lieutenant General v. Khalilov for the development of the institution.
