Legendary Russian bands will give performance in the Alexandrovsky Garden

On Saturday August 19 the closing ceremony of the summer season of the Military Bands in Parks series will be held in the Alexandrovsky Garden in Moscow. The performance of as many as three top Russian military bands will be a musical greeting to the Xth International Military Music Festival «Spasskaya Tower».

A series of concerts was started in Moscow on May 20 by the military bands thus reviving a grand Russian tradition of brass band performances in parks and public gardens. Over three months 15 performances were given in the Gorky Park, Muzeon, Sokolniki, Izmailovsky, Perovsky, and Vorontsovsky parks, in the Hermitage Garden, the Bauman Garden, the Victory Park on the Poklonnaya Hill and other landmark stages of the city. Thousands of Moscovites and guests of the city had a chance to soak up glorious music played by the military men servicing in top bands of the Ministry of Defense, EMERCOM, and the Russian National Guard Forces.

The final concert of the season will be given in the Alexandrovsky Garden by the Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Exemplary Military Band of the Honor Guard, and the Military Band of 154th Separate Commandant’s Preobrazhensky Regiment. The legends will start their performances at 4 p.m. on three stages near the Alexandrovsky Garden, then the players will unite their forces at the historic cavern to close the second summer season of the Military Bands in Parks series with a bright musical end and to remind the music lovers of the main event of the season — the Xth International Military Music Festival «Spasskaya Tower».
The words of welcome to the anniversary festival of military music are going to be said by Head of the Directorate of the «Spasskaya Tower» Festival Sergey Smirnov, Chief of the Military Bands' Service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation — the chief bandmaster Colonel Timofey Mayakin, a Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Moscow City Cultural Heritage Department Aleksandr Kibovskiy.
