| The Honor Cavalry Escort2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 The history of the Honor Cavalry Escort goes back to the Emperor’s Convoy and the division of the 11th Special Cavalry Regiment formed in 1962. On its basis, the Honored Cavalry Escort (part of the President’s Regiment) has been formed on September 2, 2002.
The basis for the ceremony military uniform of the Cavalry was the parade uniform of the Life Guards of the Dragoon Guards. The ceremony uniform Kremlin’s Dragoon has been joined with the infantry uniform of the Squadron of the Honor Guard, as the dragoons were initially allowed in both infantry and cavalry. The Honored Cavalry Escort is armed with cavalry swords of 1881.The Honor Escort has participated in the inauguration ceremony of the President of Russia, in numerous festive events on the Red Square and guard mounting ceremonies in the Kremlin. Igor Vladimirovich Dragunov, lieutenant colonel, has been commanding the Honored Cavalry Escort since 2007. He had military conscription in the Soviet Army in 1988-1990 and graduated from the Moscow Higher Military Command College in 1994. After graduation in 1994 he served in the President’s Regiment. Igor Dragunov participated in development of the program of the International Cavalry Festival in Achen (Germany) in 2008 and n the Festival’s presentations with the Russian delegation. Currently, Igor Dragunov is heading the development of a new program for training the cavalry divisions of the President’s Regiment.
