The Exemplary Military Band of the Honor Guard

Established on November 29, 1956, the Exemplary Military Band of the Honor Guard is the leading group providing music accompaniment during the Honor Guard ritual that involves solemn ceremony of meeting heads of states and governments as well as of official state and military delegations. The ceremony also features the participation of the Honor Guard of the 154 Preobrazhensky Regiment.
A plethora of significant monuments and memorials across the country had their opening ceremonies performed to the accompaniment of the Exemplary Military Band, including the grand reopening of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow’s Alexander Garden in 2010.
In the past, the band performed at the opening ceremony of the 1980 Olympic Games and welcomed the world’s first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin back to Earth from his journey in outer space.
