Following the Order of the Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Fifteenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival will take place from August 26 to September 4, 2022. In addition, we’ll carry out our Tattoo’s anniversary run on Moscow’s Red Square as per long-standing tradition.
The Fourteenth Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival took place from August 27 to September 5 on Moscow’s Red Square in the COVID-free format. Time, Music and Peace was the leading theme of the 2021 Spasskaya Tower Military Tattoo. COVID-19 pandemic has destroyed the everyday life of people worldwide, bringing along a lot of bad and negative stuff. However, it has also made us revise many things and have a fresh look at such fundamental values as personal health and security, the safety of our family and loved ones, friendship and freedom of movement, etc. Only time can make amends for the challenging period we’ve gone through, putting forward the unique ability of people to unite in a single impulse to rise and fight against a common global threat. This ability is known as positivity. Moreover, music is the time’s primary assistant as a universal language tool connecting people of all ages, nationalities, and religions.

Greeting the participants, organizers and guests of the 2021 Festival’s run, Russian President Vladimir Putin highlighted: “The Spasskaya Tower Festival is always one of the biggest and most anticipated events, impressive in its scale and solemnity, a genuine spectacle. Bringing together some of the best artists and creative teams from Russia and all over the world, the Festival has rightfully secured its popularity for its rich and intense program, unique character, a wide variety of genres and incredibly high level of professionalism”.

In 2021 Moscow’s Red Square welcomed 29 military music, creative and riding teams from five countries, featuring Russia, Belarus, Greece, Mexico and Qatar. World’s most famous Russian and international artists, including Tamara Gverdtsiteli, Turetsky Choir, together with Soprano Group and Till Lindemann, shared the stage with some of the best national military bands, honour guard units and creative teams. A genuine fireworks spectacle crowned each of the Festival’s evening shows.

According to Mr Sergey Smirnov, Head of the Spasskaya Tower Festival Directorate, in 2021, the overall number of participants (both on the main stage and horse riding arena) was 1698 people (including musicians and soloists, dancers and conductors, flag-bearers and riders). In addition, the Festival’s Combined Band featured 1200 members. Participants used 1041 musical instruments to stage their performances.
