Bright, Bold and Beautiful — the Many Colors of India at the Spasskaya Tower Festival

This year, from August 26 to September 4, the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival will be welcoming Panghat Performing Arts Group from India, a beautiful land of myriad cultures and traditions.

Panghat Performing Arts Group is one reflecting India’s rich ancient traditions. Established in 2001 in the city of Ahmedabad (Gujarat), the ensemble is a blend of instrumental, dance, and vocal teams, prominent for its dynamic performing style, outstanding costumes, and gripping energy vibes.

In Hindi, “panghat” means “riverbank”. When performing, musicians and dancers seek to translate India’s great cultural heritage. Panghat Performing Arts Group has a very rich performing repertoire of Indian folk and ritual dances representing various states and cities of the country.

Panghat Ensemble is an experienced participant of various international folk and traditional arts festivals. Throughout its 22 years of history, musicians have successfully promoted their art in the US, Poland, Indonesia, Bhutan, Spain, Ukraine, Serbia, Hungary, Germany, Bulgaria, Romania, Great Britain, Turkey, Nepal, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Greece, Belgium, Singapore, Vietnam.

This year, Panghat Performing Arts Group will make its debut on the cobblestones of Red Square. Previously, several bands from India, namely the Combined Military Band of the Indian Armed Forces (2017) and the Indian Army Chiefs Military Band (2009), have already taken part in the Spasskaya Tower Festival.
