Segey Mazayev, a Popular Russian Singer, Will Perform at the Spasskaya Tower Festival

Sergey Mazayev, a popular musician, actor, songwriter, and Honored Artist of Russia, will take part in the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival, staged in the iconic Moscow’s Red Square between August 26 and September 5.

The one and only soloist and leader of Moral Codex, the legendary Russian rock band, he started performing with Igor Butman’s jazz ensemble in 1999. In 2000, he put forward the idea of recording together at the Mosfilm film studio, and eventually becoming the producer of the project. In 2003, Sergey Mazaev was nominated as the Best Rock Vocalist at the National Television Music Awards (Muz-TV/Russia). In 2005, he came among the prize-winners at the VII World Class Fitness Awards (the Progress of the Year nomination), while in 2010, he received the Musician of the Year award at the GQ People annual ceremony. In 2011, Sergey Mazayev launched his own award for outstanding clarinet playing skills within the Third International Competition of Young Wind and Percussion Performers of the Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory. Together with soloist Alena Dolbik, the Sergei Mazaev Band released two albums, titled Songs of the Motherland (2019) and You Are Here (2021).

Sergey Mazayev will be part of the Spasskaya Tower Festival’s grand opening on August 26, as well as the evening show on September 1. The Honored Artist of Russia will perform Earth is Our Home composition.

This year’s fifteenth anniversary run of the Spasskaya Tower Military Tattoo will showcase cultural and music presentations by performers from Armenia, Belarus, India, Egypt, and Thailand, along with homegrown talent from Russia, with the Russian Ministry of Defense, Federal Guard Service, National Guard Forces, Federal Security Service, and Russia’s Emergencies Ministry as the lead services this year.
