Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation celebrates its 90^th anniversary

The anniversary concert of the Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation will take place on November 21 at the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army.

The Band was founded following the Decree of the Revolutionary Military Council of the USSR No. 516 dated September 27, 1927 as the Exemplary Band of the People’s Commissariat for Military and Naval Affairs of the USSR.

Now the Band consists of two independent musical bands: wind orchestra and symphonic orchestra. They form the pops orchestra, string quartet, big band, jazz ensemble, and brass quintet. Such kind of a structure gives a possibility to choose the widest possible repertoire.

Central Military Band (CMB) is the leading performance group of the Military Bands' Service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and one of the world most well-known bands. Besides the fact that the Band became the hallmark of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation from the moment of its foundation, the bandsmen have won the hearts of the audience all over the world: from the USA, France, and Great Britain in the West to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Mongolia, and China in the East.

For 10 years in a row the Band’s brilliant performances have been bringing joy to the audience of thousands at the International Military Music Festival «Spasskaya Tower». It wins the hearts and cultivates love for military band music not only in the Russians but in numerous foreign visitors of Moscow.
